Welcome to our introduction on setup DevOps Plugin for GitHub

Process overview


Plugin configuration

  • Activate the the DevOps tool of your choice (in our example GitHub).

Redmine configuration

  • Update roles & permissions accordingly.


Open your external DevOps tools

GitHub configuration

  • Log in to with your user credentials.
  • And open the Developer Settings / Section Personal access tokens to generate a new token.

GitHub configuration (API Token)

  • In section Select scopes simply activate the item repo for the sake of simplicity. Other scopes are not requested when integrating with Redmine.
  • Click Save to generate the API token (copy to clipboard).

The GitHub Personal Access Token is required for the following Dashboard blocks of the DevOps Plugin (keep it save):

  • GitHub Pull Requests
  • GitHub Repositories
  • GitHub Issues
  • GitHub Workflows

Redmine project configuration

  • Activate the module in a project of your choice.

Redmine project configuration

  • Go to the project overview page.
  • Create a new dashboard or modify the existing one by adding one of the available GitHub Dashboard blocks.


  • Choose one of the available dashboard blocks.
  • Integrate the API token and save the changes.
Hint: Each dashboard block can only be added once per dashboard.

API Rate Limit


Different types of API requests to are subject to different rate limits. Each dashboard block comes with information on your API rate limit. Keep an eye on this numbers.


People with appropriate user permission will have access to the dashboard as well as to the DevOps blocks added to the dashboard.
