Plugin Version 4.4.0 now available

Version 4.4.0 of our Redmine plugins has been released. The focus of this release is on faster everyday navigation, smarter automation through AI integration, and a unified, more readable look for dashboard statistics across the entire Enterprise+ Bundle.

Cmd/Strg+K Quick Search across all plugins

The headline feature of version 4.4.0 is the new Cmd/Strg+K quick search, which is now supported in DB, HRM, Passwords, Reporting, ServiceDesk, and WikiGuide. With a single keyboard shortcut, you can jump directly to entries, filtered lists, or plugin areas without taking your hands off the keyboard.

For teams that work in Redmine all day, this small addition makes a noticeable difference: less clicking through menus, faster context switching between plugins, and a more modern feel that aligns with the keyboard-driven workflows familiar from many SaaS tools.

Redmine Automation - AI actions, drag & drop, and powerful variable filters

The Automation Plugin receives the most extensive functional update in this release.

AI Automation rule actions

If our Redmine AI AddOn is in use, two new AI-powered automation actions become available:

  • AI issue change for automatic, instruction-based issue updates
  • AI tool for executing AI tool calls inside automation rules

This means automation rules can now hand off complex, language-based decisions to a model, for example to summarize, classify, or rewrite issue content automatically.

Disable rule after one-time execution

The new disable_rule action allows an automation rule to deactivate itself after it has run. This is useful for one-shot migrations, scheduled rollouts, or any rule that should fire exactly once.

Drag & drop reordering for actions

Automation rule actions can now be reordered via drag & drop. Building and adjusting more complex rule chains becomes significantly easier.

New variable filters and pipe chaining

The variable system in Automation has been extended with several new filter capabilities. Details and examples are available in the plugin documentation on variables (accessible with a valid support licence).

Renamed variables - action required

Two variables have been renamed for consistency:

  • {%project_list%} is now {%projects%}
  • {%project_member_list%} is now {%project.members%}

Existing rules that use the old names must be updated to the new variable names before the upgrade. The variable {%project_members%} is now only available in combination with the HRM plugin.

Bug fixes in Automation

  • Fixed multi-select custom field variable resolution in the create issue action
  • Fixed date variables in issue titles not respecting the bot user’s time zone after DST change
  • Fixed duplicate issue creation when modifying an existing schedule

Redmine Reporting - Diagrams, performance, and polish

Mermaid and Dot diagrams now support Markdown syntax

Mermaid and Dot (Graphviz) diagrams can now be written using standard Markdown fenced code blocks in addition to the existing Redmine macro syntax (,, ``). This makes it easier to copy diagram snippets between Markdown editors and Redmine wiki pages.

Performance for users with many project memberships

Page load times have been significantly improved for users who are members of a large number of projects, a common situation in larger organizations.

Further Reporting improvements

  • Counter box hours now respect the times-format configuration from the administration area
  • Menu order adjusted: versions are now placed below issues
  • The “No data to display” message in the taskboard now only appears when a column actually contains no tickets, so grouped tasks remain visible after filtering
  • Bug fix: PDF export TypeError for non-admin users on (wiki) content with integrated tables
  • Bug fix: incorrect successful login log entry when authentication actually failed
  • Bug fix: avatar drag from the members modal works again, by deferring the dialog close

Redmine ServiceDesk - Helpdesk Doctor and Click-to-Call

Helpdesk Doctor diagnostic tab

A new diagnostic tab in the plugin settings checks the helpdesk configuration and highlights possible project overview problems. The Helpdesk Doctor gives administrators a quick overview of misconfigurations before they cause issues in daily operation. More information is available in the plugin configuration documentation via customer area.

Click-to-Call for phone numbers

Phone numbers in contact views are now rendered as clickable links, so calls can be triggered directly from the browser via the configured phone application.

Further ServiceDesk improvements

  • “Title only” search now also matches last name and company, not only first name
  • Variable revision for canned responses
  • Deterministic order for incoming mail fetching, sorted by project tree order (previously the order was undefined)
  • The Card contact view has been converted to a flexible DIV view that adapts to the available screen width
  • Enhanced statistics display in the contact summary dashboard block

Redmine HRM - Smarter user selection

Select2 with AJAX for user fields

Form fields with user selection (assignee, author, custom fields with users) have been converted to select2 with AJAX. The list now preselects the 50 project members with the most issue assignments, which makes the typical assignment cases much faster while still allowing free search for everyone else.

Latest user logins dashboard block

The “Latest user logins” dashboard block has been redesigned with improved styling for better readability.

Bug fix

  • Sort order for “last logged in” on the user list and password changed has been fixed.

Redmine DB and Redmine Passwords

Both plugins receive the same set of improvements in this release:

  • Cmd/Strg+K search support
  • Enhanced statistics display in the DB summary and Password summary dashboard blocks: total counts are now split into labeled values with improved styling
  • Bug fix: the “Assigned to” field shows groups again, even when the Redmine setting “Allow issue assignment to groups” is disabled

Redmine WikiGuide

  • Cmd/Strg+K search support
  • Enhanced statistics display in the wiki page summary dashboard block
  • Bug fix: improved view customization stability through updated Deface override hashes and enhanced conflict prevention

Conclusion

Version 4.4.0 brings a unified quick-search experience across all plugins, opens up real AI-driven workflows in the Automation Plugin, and continues to refine the dashboard and statistics views that customers rely on every day. The renamed Automation variables are the only manual step required during the upgrade and are documented above.
