Managed Hosting / Redmine Products / Knowledge management with Redmine
Knowledge sits scattered. In notes, in mailboxes, on the file server, in documents on individual machines. Whoever looks for something asks a person who might know. When that person leaves, the knowledge leaves too.
Redmine brings it into one place. The wiki is part of the standard, as are search across all projects, file attachments and forums. We operate the instance, in our cloud in Germany or on your server.
What Redmine brings in the standard
- A wiki per project, with pages linking to each other
- Full text search across issues, wiki pages and files
- Files on the issue or on the wiki page, with a version history
- Roles and permissions decide who reads and who writes
What the Wiki Guide plugin adds
A wiki gets confusing as soon as several people write in it. Pages grow side by side and nobody knows which version applies.
In many organizations it is also not enough that a piece of information exists. In an audit it has to be provable who approved it and who read it. The Wiki Guide plugin adds exactly that:
- Approval workflow. A page has a version that is reviewed and approved. Drafts and the valid version stay distinguishable.
- Read confirmation. Traceable who took note of which version. For briefings and work instructions this is the record.
- Guided structure. Pages follow an order instead of standing next to each other as a grown list.
When it is structured data
Not everything belongs in the wiki. Contracts, devices, licenses and certificates are records with the same fields. The DB plugin covers those, with custom fields per type and filterable lists. How that works day to day is shown in the use case virtual library.
Both plugins are part of the AlphaNodes Core Stack and are included in every hosting package.
